I call these fingerprint drawings; I created them by applying ink to paper using my fingertips. I use ink from inkpads, and occasionally create paper stencils to make fine shapes that are smaller than my fingertips. I first tried this for the 2004 Monster Drawing Rally at Southern Exposure in San Francisco, a fundraiser in which artists draw on-site for an hour, and the drawings are then sold. I wanted to find some drawing medium that would be different and interesting to watch. The technique is basically pointilism, but the fingertip-sized marks force me to approach drawing differently. Which is fun.
